Remembering Pioneer Sisters in Korea
Eighty years ago, four German Sisters arrived at Wonsan, North Korea on November 21, 1925 after 48 days of ocean and land traveling. The seeds of these four Sisters were sown and are now reaping more than 600 Sisters (Seoul and Daegu Priories). A 150-fold of increase. We thanked God for His blessings and protection with a celebration of joy and thanks. Our special guests included three General Councilors, Sr. Chantal and Sr. Agatha, Sr. Antoinette Adelman, Sr. Kevin Hermsen, Norfolk Prioress, Sr. Dolores Hong, Seoul Prioress, and several Sisters from Seoul Priory. They all came to celebrate this occasion, the 80th anniversary of Korean foundation and our Prioress, Sr. Gertrud Kim's nameday. On the 19th, Bishop John Choi Youngsoo of Daegu Archdiocese concelebrated the Thanksgiving High Mass with monks of Waegwan Benedictine Abbey. Also, some oblate postulants and employees of both Daegu and Changwon Fatima Hospitals came and attended the Mass.
